Three Helpful Tips to Finding the Perfect Photographer for your Laid-back Wedding Day

With thousands of photographers out there- how can you tell which one is the best fit for your wedding day?  You want beautiful photos, but also want to enjoy your wedding day.  Here are a few tips to narrow down your options so that you find a wedding photographer who shares your vision.

1. Know your style.  Do you prefer Van Gogh or Picasso?  Wedding photographers are artists, so it is important you find a photographer whose work you love.  Look through every considered photographer’s portfolio.  Do you like natural/candid shots?  Are you attracted to dramatic lighting and classic portraiture?  Do you like a blend of everything?  Ask your potential photographer(s) what their style is.  If you like what you see in their portfolios, you will like what they create for you.

2. Do research.  Reviews are a great insight to what it is like to work with your potential photographer.  Learn about their personalities and how they treated their past clients and their wedding guests.   Many photographers get reviews from clients on theKnot.com or Weddingwire. 

3. Meet them.  Interview your potential photographers so that you can see if your personalities mesh.  It is  important to vibe with your photographer so that you feel comfortable with them on your wedding day.  If you are doing an out of town wedding, Skype or phone chat.  You want to find someone who is laid back,  like you, but organized enough to follow a schedule.  It helps to ask your photographer questions like, “How do you approach a wedding day?” or “What is your favorite part of a wedding to shoot?”  Listen to their answers and how they tell their experiences.  Is this someone that shares your vision and can tell your story?
